Sensors
for RF power meters - Pros and Cons of different measurement methods. |
|
This
paper deals with the ways to convert an RF signal into an easy to
measure DC voltage. The principles are explained, their pros and cons
are listed. It is also pointed out which sensor is best suited for a
certain application.

Advantages of modern BJTs (bipolar junction transistors) over GaAs-FETs for low noise preamplifier applications on 3.4GHz. |
|
Radio
amateurs still use mainly GaAs FETs when designing a low noise
amplifier. This article points out that modern bipolar transistor can
give similarly good results at much less troubles in the design.

A
low cost, high performance power sensor. (In French language.) |

Based
on my publication of a diode RF sensor on this website, the popular French
radio amateur magazine Ondes published an article in French. With
their approval, here is a copy of the original paper version.
